August 2008: Adelaide Parkland Terminal

The newly refurbished and renamed interstate rail terminal in Adelaide was opened on 6th August 2008 by the minister for Tourism Jane Lomax-Smith. Atomiq provided architectural design for the interior and exterior refurbishment and building extensions, full interior design, new check in and baggage handling facilities, new identity, information and directional signage.

April 2008: Great Southern Rail’s new Platinum Class

In April 2008 Great Southern Rail who own the legendary Ghan and Indian Pacific trains announced the launch of it’s luxury Platinum Class cabins featuring full double bed and ensuite, coffee table and footstools in every cabin. Atomiq provided interior design including custom furniture design and have more recently been selecting service fitout from bedding to tableware to artworks.

September 2007: Dreamworld’s Motocoaster

Dreamworld launched their new coaster style ride in September 2007. ATOMIQ was engaged to provide the design of theming and signage, exterior spaces, shade and queuing, food and retail outlets and to assist the ride supplier, Intamin, with developing the replica 500cc motorbike ride vehicles.

April 2006: Major Tourist Gateway for Refurbishment

Atomiq has been engaged by Great Southern Railway to interpret the outcomes of recent master planning studies for their primary terminal in Adelaide. Keswick Station, or Adelaide Interstate Rail Terminal as it is also known, is the home station for THE INDIAN PACIFIC, THE GHAN and THE OVERLANDER and will be the subject of a major refurbishment project by ATOMIQ over the coming months.

March 2006: Discovery Walkway to offer an engaging Connection

Following the announcement that the Northern Territory Government would fund the first stage of the Alice Springs Rail Terminal Environs and Connectivity Master Plan, Atomiq has been engaged to develop a Discovery Walkway. The Walkway's initial concept, which was released to public display recently, incorporates a series of discovery stations on the expanded rail terminal site, along a proposed connection to the town centre and at key locations in the town. The self-guided tour will highlight the Indigenous, Pioneer and Environmental heritage of Central Australia and of Alice Springs. It is due to open in late 2006.

 

February 2006: Alice Springs Rail Terminal Unveiled

The Chief Minister for the Northern Territory, Clair Martin, officially opened the refurbished Alice Springs Rail Terminal at a ceremony well attended by local and state government and tourist operators. Ms Martin and Tony Braxton Smith, CEO of GSR, who operate the historic GHAN train into Alice Springs, unveiled a plaque beneath the iconic statue of an Afghan Cameleer, the symbol of the GHAN. Local operators have high hopes that the more inviting station would provide the first stage in encouraging tourists to stay longer and use the Alice as a base for Central Australian visits.


September 05: New Waterpark for the Gold Coast

Atomiq has been engagedto provide the primary theme design, ride theming, sitewide feature and wayfinding signage, shade design and sitewide colour specifications for a new waterpark on the Gold Coast by Dreamworld parent body Macquarie Leisure. The waterpark is schedule to open in December 2006.
